Speeds you can expect with HughesNet
When you connect to the Internet using HughesNet, the upload and download speeds you experience will vary based on a variety of factors including the configuration of your computer, the number of concurrent users, network or Internet congestion, the speed of the Websites you are accessing, and other factors. Stated speeds and uninterrupted use of service are not guaranteed. During peak hours, actual upload and download speed will likely be lower than speeds indicated.
With the Home service plan, you may enjoy increased download speeds of up to 1.0 Mbps, with typical speeds of about 550 Kbps to 650 Kbps during peak times. Upload speeds, which are capable of reaching 128 Kbps, are typically 70 Kbps to 80 Kbps during peak hours.
With the Pro plan, you’ll enjoy high-speed Internet service download speeds of up to 1.2 Mbps, with typical speeds about 700 Kbps to 800 Kbps during peak times. Upload speeds, which are capable of reaching 200 Kbps, are typically 100 Kbps to 120 Kbps during peak hours.
With the ProPlus plan, increase download speed even more and enjoy speeds of up to 1.6 Mbps, with typical speeds about 800 Kbps to 1.0 Mbps during peak times. Upload speeds, which are capable of reaching 250 Kbps, are typically 130 Kbps to 150 Kbps during peak hours.
With the Elite plan, connect to the Internet with maximum download speeds of up to 2.0 Mbps, with typical speeds about 1.0 Mbps to 1.2 Mbps during peak times. Upload speeds, which are capable of reaching 300 Kbps, are typically 165 Kbps to 180 Kbps during peak hours.
With the ElitePlus plan, connect to the Internet with maximum download speeds of up to 3.0 Mbps, with typical speeds about 1.6 Mbps to 1.8 Mbps during peak times. Upload speeds, which are capable of reaching 300 Kbps, are typically 165 Kbps to 180 Kbps during peak hours.
With the ElitePremium plan, connect to the Internet via satellite and enjoy increased download speeds. This high speed Internet plan has maximum download speeds of up to 5.0 Mbps, with typical speeds about 2.7 Mbps to 3.0 Mbps during peak times. Upload speeds, which are capable of reaching 300 Kbps, are typically 165 Kbps to 180 Kbps during peak hours.
Listed speeds are only available through Hughes’ new satellite. Most subscribers will have access to these faster speeds, but approximately 3% will not be able to receive these speeds because trees or other obstacles may block the signal from the satellite to the HughesNet dish on the house. For these subscribers, Hughes can offer slightly slower Internet access speeds from another satellite with the following three service plans: the Home plan with download speeds up to 700 Kbps and upload speeds up to 128 Kbps; the Pro plan with download speeds up to 1.0 Mbps and upload speeds up to 200 Kbps; and the ProPlus plan with download speeds up to 1.5 Mbps and upload speeds up to 200 Kbps.
In all cases, actual upload speed will likely be lower than the speed indicated during peak hours. Download speeds may also be temporarily slowed if patterns of system usage exceed the download threshold for an extended length of time.- DS, Texas
